Qatar Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets Niger Foreign Minister

Doha - Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, met on Tuesday with Niger's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad, HE Bakary Yaou Sangare, who is currently on an official visit to the country.

During the meeting, the Qatari Prime Minister was handed a written condolence message from Niger's President, HE General Abdourahamane Tchiani. In the message, the Nigerien president conveyed his condolences to the State of Qatar over the passing of HH the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, who ruled Qatar from 1995 to 2013 and died earlier this month at the age of 74.

Beyond the exchange of condolences, the two officials used the meeting to discuss the broader state of bilateral relations between Qatar and Niger, exploring avenues to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries. The talks also touched on a number of regional and international issues of shared interest to both sides.

The visit by Niger's foreign minister comes amid a wave of international condolences that have poured into Doha following the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, with numerous heads of state and government officials from across the world extending sympathies to Qatar's ruling family and its people.
